Notes: So I have to thank [personal profile] medie for all the cool ideas in her dear yuletide person letter. It was hard to choose what to write with all the ideas, but I couldn't resist the pull of Kate and Kate's relationship with her husband. I hope it lived up to everything she wanted. And I also have to thank Jen, Lara, and Steph for the amazing beta work on this story. They all brought different perspectives and great advice.

Current Mood: cheerful

So it's that time of year for wish lists and such. I'm trying to save them as I go, but feel free to link me to your wishlist as I would like to do something small for any of you if I can. As usual, because I'm poor, I tend to keep my list fannish/creative because that's all I really can return. And it's the small things that always make me happy anyway.

so onto it...

wishlist rules... )

And my ten wishes - know that world peace is always an understood wish... )

Again, I wish I could do things like buy y'all books and such, but I'm broke as broke could be, so I try to stick to the small things and don't ask more of that than anyone else.

Free-for-All Master Post

I copy/pasted a bunch of different fic requests into a word document, so that I can see what I can accomplish on my lunch break. I've gotten a few really great things that I made me smile, so I want to return the love and give someone else a smile.

Friends: Feel free to leave me links to your lists, as I'd love to see if there is anything I can do.

And if you're interested, my requests link is here

Thanks to the Vampire Diaries friending meme, I've added a few friends. I also added a few friends a few weeks ago, so I figured it was that time again where I post a little bit about myself. I've done it the past here, here, and here.

Some things have changed a bit, but mostly, I'm very good at saying a whole lot of nothing about myself. I do warn that my mother died this past January and it has taken it's toll on me. I don't say this for pity or attention, just to make you aware that there may be times where it seems like I'm not posting or commenting, but I'm almost always still reading. I just tend to avoid bringing drama to a place that I think of as supposed to be fun.

I'm a writer, a liberal from South Jersey, who works for a nonprofit environmental company, who is pro-choice and somewhat anti-religion, though I believe in God. Most of that doesn't make it into this journal at all as I try to keep that stuff to my personal journal. However, if you find that fact that I feel these things impossible to deal with, go on your merry way and I will harbor no ill will. Maybe a little. Okay, it really depends on my mood, but it would definitely be kept to myself and not shared with the world, that I can promise.

Fandom

My fandoms continue to change and expand based on the day and/or if [info - personal] iamtheenemy, my partner in crime, has decided to get me addicted to something (don't worry, I always return the favor). Supernatural still owns my heart because Sam and Dean Winchester are SamandDean!!!, but I love many things, especially if they have hot boys. And if they have hot angsty boys or cute socially-awkward geniuses? I'm hooked.

My most active fandoms: Supernatural, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Numb3rs, and Twilight. I'm also madly in love with Harper's Island in addition to Vampire Diaries at the moment. I'm very polyfannish. And I have a huge love of short-lived, canceled shows.

Main Communities I run (along with [info - personal] iamtheenemy): [info] polyfandomrecs - our reccing journal, though I'm pretty sure I haven't recced much in months; [info - community] moviefanfiction - an archive for any/all movie-based fanfiction; [info - community] bookfanfiction - an archive for any/all book-based fanfiction; [info] 25moments - a prompt table, but with no claiming necessary as some of us like writing many fandoms/pairings; and [info] quillandink - a writing community with prompts and such.

How to Find Me

--I did a post back in June on how to find me. It's locked to friends, but basically, it lists all my other journals.

**

I think that's pretty much everything. Don't feel pressured to read or overwhelmed. I'm really easy-going for the most part and love making new friends.

Sep. 1st, 2009 @ 08:32 pm ever been sleepy but unable to sleep?
Current Mood: geeky

So new episodes of Greek began airing last night. It's sitting on my dvr to be watched when I have a free moment not taken up by insanity. I also got a present from Amazon today - it didn't say who sent it - but it was Supernatural Season 4. Maybe it's a sign that I'm supposed to finish the flipping season already. I don't know what my deal has been with finishing up the season. Yeah, part of it is that I don't want my boys at odds with one another, but it's not like I don't know that I'll end up at least liking (probably loving) the episodes. At the very least, I could finally catch up on tons of fic that is based on the whole season. And really, sometimes a girl needs her fic priorities.

I got a few Borders gift cards too and since this is me, I went and spent it right away. And it was perfect timing as they had seasons of Felicity AND Alias on sale, so I was able to finish up my collections of both of those shows. I'm especially excited to get seasons 3 and 4 of Felicity, especially three as it's one of my favorites. And I was the girl who wanted Felicity to get BOTH boys. I loved her with Ben, but I also loved her with Noel as they both complemented her in different ways.

As for Alias, I picked up the last two seasons. Not my favorites, but a girl never tires of Sydney kicking ass and Spy!Daddy doing whatever necessary. Still think that Will shouldn't have disappeared...even though it doesn't seem to have hurt Bradley Cooper's career at all.

**

I'm now slowly catching up on Burn Notice. I *finally* finished season two and am into season three. I know I've mentioned it before, but it needs repeating: I love Michael/Fi. As a team, I love Michael, Fi, and Sam, and as much as Fi & Sam bicker, you just know they'd have each others backs regardless of Michael at this point. But really, I just love Fi. I think she's the one woman on the planet who can pull off a fanny pack and look cool and tough. And Michael just needs to suck it up and go with it.

**

I finished reading Generation Kill last week. Good book that made me want to pull out my dvds. And now I'm reading One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick. I really like the very different views of everything. Wright came at it as a reporter and Fick was in the heart of these battles with real lives on the line. I'm about halfway through and I think what I'm enjoying most is the way Fick explains all these life philosophies that were instilled him. Not just blow shit up, but ways of viewing the world.

There's also a chance I'm a bit biased toward marines, as crazy as they are. My brother was a marine and he served in the first gulf war.

**

So I'm trying really hard to adhere to a budget lately. Mostly out of necessity with house things coming up and such. But I cheated and bought myself two birthday gifts. One was a specialized mouse pad of Stitch that says "TommyGirl" because I'm a big loser. The other was season two of Digging for the Truth on dvd, only further proving that I'm nerd. But I loved that show. And not just because Josh was hot. It was interesting and funny (not on purpose - but whoever did the planning of their journeys really should've been fired) and yes, Josh is very hot.

Is it normal to play Wii Rockband and walk away with the strong urge to play drums? Because now I want a drum set and nobody but me thinks this is a good idea.

But I couldn't not share these pictures with my fellow Generation Kill pals. If you've seen them, go look again. Because it's a photo gallery of 26 pictures of Alexander Skarsgard from Generation Kill. Most of them are him shirtless, but there are a few ass shots as well. But the one that got me was the close up of him shirtless with this really hot smile and smoldering eyes. Or maybe the one where it looks like he's pretending to be an airplane. Or all of them. Have I mentioned the shirtless?

Anyone good with icon making willing to use these pictures to make some? Alas, I'm the most horrific graphic artist ever to walk the planet.

**

Two other links I thought were cool and worth sharing (though non-fandom)

--Like the fist of an angry god - Deep in the outer realms of our solar system, well over a billion kilometers away, something bizarre happened at Saturn’s F ring.

Go look at the pictures. It's fascinating! I need a Sheldon Cooper to bond with this over.

--Over at the SFWA, Patricia Wrede answered a lot of questions on Fantasy World Building that could be handy to the writers on my friends list. Fanfiction or otherwise, maybe it'll spark something. I know, personally, right now I'm grasping at straws to get my muse going again.

So I'm thinking the Star Trek reboot schmoop ficathon might be a go. I'm going to mull it over and maybe get something set up this weekend. I'm still trying to decide if I should limit it to slash (which, for this fandom, is my cup of tea) or open it up to be slash/het, as I also know the anguish of pairing het couples in certain fandoms and having trouble finding wonderful fic.

Of course, this means I will expect all of you to pimp like mad for me if I do it, like a crazy person.

But really, I just want to force someone to write me sickeningly sweet making breakfast fic. Yes, I'm just that demented.

**

Also on Star Trek reboot, is there a newsletter for it? I'm a newsletter uber fan. They are usually my gateway to all that goes on in fandom as I'm all over the place otherwise. And crying a lot. And then Steph gets text messages where I lament to her.

**

Now I shall go read and fall asleep after a long, crazy day at work. I am reading Russell Brand's memoir because I love him. I saw his comedy special about a month ago and is there anyone who doesn't appreciate him in Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Especially with his music video cue cards? Hee. That said, I did pick up book for of the Cal Leandros series and started reading it again. What can I say? I'm a sucker for very close siblings, especially brothers, who grow up alone and take care of each other no matter what.

It seems I still have access to insanejournal for the time being. Woo-hoo. Of course, work has been insanely busy and I had a huge mailing that had to get done, but none of the contact information was correct when it was given to me. Wonderful.

I've been considering writing more of my girl!Niko stuff for Veritas the Quest. I have this huge desire to jump ahead a few years and let her hook up with Calvin. Because I ship Niko/Calvin whether it's slash or het. But I'm trying to be good because there is a lot of stories to tell between my last short piece and where my brain wants to go. Le sigh. Sometimes making sense for readers is no fun.

**

I'm not sure I've mentioned my latest obsession. It's Criminal Minds. I'm almost done season two and will quickly move into season three. I'm madly in love with Spencer Reid. He totally fits my type of the nerdy, socially-awkward guy. And I love the idea of him with Morgan. The two of them have a great chemistry (when wearing my slash goggles) and they complement each other well.

Of course, I already have too many fannish muses battling for control. I don't need anymore. And it's always a little anxiety-inducing when I first undertake a new fandom - never sure if I'm doing the characters justice and such...

I've been very lax about posting over here, or even archiving more of my fic. Things have been insane lately. My mother passed away on January 28th and I've been all over the place, both mentally and physically since then. Even prior to that, I was a bit crazed with work and life and an inability to sit down and write. It's only been worse.

Am back at work and attempting to get back into some sort of routine and hoping to push past my writer's block/laze in the near future.

Sadly though, it seems my employer has gotten smart and blocked certain websites, including livejournal. I can't blame them, but it was always a fun distraction when I wasn't quite so busy or wanted to avoid things. Oh well, what can you do? In the scheme of things, not a big deal. Maybe it'll even improve my writing. Or just get me posting over here more.
